Solo Vocal Repertoire for Singers and Teachers of Singers

by Christopher Arneson and Lauren Athey-Janka

In five volumes: Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Tenor, Baritone, Bass

Companion anthologies to Literature for Teaching (2014). Each volume includes new editions of ten songs and arias in Italian, German, French, and English, with technical instructions, vocalises, phonetic transcriptions, and translations. Also included in each volume is a guide to the International Phonetic Alphabet, a Basic Guide to Vocal Exercises, and a bibliography of important collections of vocalises.

The authors note that: "The intent of these books is to provide tools that will help students and teachers achieve their pedagogic goals. The repertoire we have chosen, along with the technical instructions provided in this book, will guide the teaching of breathing and breath support, phonation, registration, resonance, and articulation. Translations and phonetic transcriptions are provided for each selection to help students explore musical and emotional expression."

E-book versions of the SVR anthologies are not currently available
